Click on 'get messages' goes nowhere
Linux Mint 22.3, Cinnamon Thunderbird 153.0 esr
clicking on 'get messages' produces no response. zero. Nothing happens. two email accounts are affected.

this error also presents itself in windows 10. The appearance is precisely the same. No activity when get messages is clicked. Right clicking on get messages and selectingany email addess tat is logged in produces the same result.
The current version of TB 150.0esr is flaky, unreliable.
I can only assume from the lack of a reply, that the helpers are aware of a 'fix-up' release being worked on.

What you report, being specific to version 153esr, is extremely rare (there is only one bug report so far, and it is not confirmed). So this makes it difficult to suggest a solution.

UPDATE : In the email window, clicking on 'Get Messages' cause a faint green line to appear in the bottom right hand corner of that window. I assume this means that emails are being checked for. The difference is that the words, checking for new messages etc etc in the bottom LEFT hand corner, DO NOT APPEAR. .... only the faint green line in bottom right (The colour of that line would likely vary with the systems colour scheme etc)
I swapped TB from 153.0esr to 153.0.1, with exactly the same thing happening. Not a biggie now I know where to look !
