Message "Windows file-dialog has crashed"
I am intermittently but repeatedly getting this message in Firefox:
> The Windows file-dialog has crashed. No file or folder could be selected.
Windows 11, Firefox 142.0.1 Most recently within www.facebook.com Edit Album
Is this a known problem? And does it have a solution?

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
- Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted (and Unsubmitted, if any) Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
- Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.
Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.
(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)
Thank you for your help!
More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.
Here is a complete list of reports, all fairly recent. None were marked with bp- so I submitted them all a few minutes ago. I should mention that FF does not itself terminate;
it reports that the "Windows file-dialog has crashed" and (so far as I can tell) keeps running.
For what it's worth, I am also recently seeing crashes in Photoshop Elements 2025; in that case PSE closes. May be unrelated, but I wanted to mention.

Hi
I think that the problem may be to do with a piece of software called "Liferay" that you have installed on your computer, possibly installed with another app (not Firefox).
As a first step, I recommend checking to see if that needs any updates and making sure, more generally, that your computer is fully up to date.
I don't find "Liferay" listed as an app on the PC that is having the crashes. And "enterprise portal technology" is the last thing I would expect to need on this home computer. What leads to the belief that it is installed here?
Later: I just found a Liferay DLL embedded in a folder for the Mountain Duck app from https://mountainduck.io
I have sent a query to them.
