I recently created an account on my city's Treasury website. The initial sign in page has a toggle switch for Remember Me that will not display when using Firefox. It displays fine using both IE and Chrome. After I sign in with my userid and password, the next screen presents a challenge question and also the option to skip this challenge for my specific computer. That has another toggle switch that doesn't display. Any ideas on what might me the conflict in Firefox?

Can you attach a screenshot?

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for messages about blocked content.

You can try these steps in case of issues with webpages:

You can reload webpage(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

I've had already checked on Adblock and NoScript and had tried turning of Enhance Tracking Protection. I can try some of the other steps you listed and see if it helps.

In the meantime, I've attached the screenshot. If I hover over the area where the Remember Me toggle switch lives my cursor changes so I know it's there. I can right click in that area and select View Background Image. It shows the toggle switch as green and turned on but apparently it isn't really turned on since when I return to the Sign In screen it does not show my User Name.

Is this only happening with that website ?

Do you see that check box in the Inspector ?

You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the builtin Inspector with this element selected.

You can try a different Firefox and Windows theme to see if that makes a difference.

It's only happening on this one website. I activated Inspector and don't see the graphic for the toggle switch if that's what you meant. There are a lot of tabs in the Inspector and I'm not exactly sure I'm looking in the right place. I opened the site in IE where I can see the toggle switch and opened the Inspector there and still couldn't see anything that looked like the toggle switch in Inspector.

I'll play around with the themes as you suggested and the other things you've mentioned when I have time again. This isn't a big deal if this is the only site where this happens.

Thanks much for your responses.

The check box should be a checkbox element, so maybe search for this element around the "Remember Me" area.
