My old version of Firefox was damaged by some type of update, possibly for Windows. i am using Windows 10 on an HP 2000 Notebook PC. I had to load a new version of Firefox, and Firefox Quantum 57.0.3 (64-bit) was downloaded. All traces of the old version were removed. Prior to the new version, the print menu gave an option to "print as image" for printing online files with mathematical symbols. When the "print as image" option was used, all mathematical expressions were printed 100% correctly, even very complex mathematical expressions. Under the new version of Firefox Quantum 57.0.3, no "print as image" option is given in the print options. Now, many mathematical expressions are so distorted when printed, one can not understand what one is looking at. It could be abstract art , but it does not look like mathematical expressions. How can I get back the "print as image" option for printing online files?

jscher2000, you nailed it! I was not familiar with the download arrow option in Firefox Quantum 57.0.3 ( 64-bit) to launch the PDF in my external viewer, which is Adobe. You gave me precisely the solution that I needed. Once I directed the viewer to use my Adobe Reader/Acrobat, the "print as image" option showed up. Thank you very much. The PDF file that I was looking at online was the document arxiv:0910.5167v1 [hep-th] 27 Oct 2009. The title of this article is "Gravity from a Particle Physicists' perspective" by Roberto Percacci. On the top of page 3, where the author says, "Symbolically:....", you will get a garbage printout without your tip.

I do look at many PDF files with mathematical symbols online, and I hope that your advice helps others in the same boat. It sure helped me.

The only time I remember seeing "Print as Image" was in Adobe Reader/Acrobat, in the Print dialog, Advanced button.

Is this a problem with printing PDFs? In that case I suggest opening them in your external reader instead of trying to print them from Firefox. If the PDF is displayed in Firefox's built-in viewer, on the black toolbar just above the document, the download arrow should provide an option to launch the PDF in your external viewer.

If this is a problem with printing web pages, can you give a link to an example page that doesn't print correctly?
