I received e-mail just fine -- into my Thunderbird Inbox -- early this morning. But now, suddenly, starting around 2:30 pm, I'll see an e-mail coming into Thunderbird -- by seeing that small popup window that briefly shows a preview of the e-mail -- but then when I go into my Inbox to find that e-mail, it's not there! I did a test and the same thing happened ... I see it in the popup at first, but then it doesn't get into my Inbox. I thought at first maybe it was showing up in a weird location in my Inbox, due to that thread business that I'll never understand, but when I do a search for the e-mail that theoretically came in, I do not see it. Any insights welcome!

Oops, never mind -- I have answered my own question! My incoming e-mails were not simply disappearing -- they were filtering into my one mailbox that has a filter set up for bringing certain e-mail into it. I don't know why emails (all? some, not sure) were suddenly going there, but now I have deleted the filter and the mailbox that the emails were suddenly getting detoured into, and now e-mails seem to be coming in just fine... At least my test e-mail to myself now goes into my Inbox as expected. If there's any software glitch behind what happened, it might be a good idea to look into it.
