When using my outlook e-mail via firefox and I try and download attachments (word .doc, .jpg) the name of the file in the download window now states "attachment.ashx" and will obviously not open.

The file will open if I access my mail via another browser

Try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder

This appears to be a problem with Firefox & ASP.net. My employer has recently changed to ASP.net for external email access. All my Word docs now open as .ashx & are impossible to download unless I go through the hassle of changing the files back to .docx. I'm going back to Internet Explorer until Firefox come up with a solution.
