firefox safe mode is not downloaded 0n my computer, what to do?

I've been trying to delete the yahoo search (how the #$#$ did it replace google ?)..Following the help directions, I realized that there is no firefox safe mode installed on my computer; it's listed below the mozilla firefox icon/name, but it just brings me to the regular firefox toolbar..no safe mode. Should I install firefox again, and delete the previous installation ?

Safe mode is built into Firefox, if the shortcut to start in safe mode is missing, for an alternative way to start in safe mode see this link - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
