I was trying to forward a petition to other people to sign, but Firefox shows an outdated e-mail address, which I can no longer access because I'm not paying for the service. I have tried overriding the old address with the new one, but it doesn't work. How do I change the default to my current e-mail address?

This happened

A few times a week

== When I canceled my Verizon service

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.

If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support. http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/support/ or this one http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=39

I'm not techy enough to understand the solution.

Here's the history: -- I've used Compuserve for 15 years, but CS doesn't do broadband so I went shopping. -- I tried Verizon for broadband, and contacted Compuserve to let them know, but also told them I wanted to retain my e-mail address. We set up new billing for that at a reduced rate so that I would not be charged full price for dial-up. -- Verizon gave me a new e-mail address, which I believe was so I could connect, using dial-up. -- After a week, I was so disgusted with Verizon that I canceled it, sent all the equipment they had sent back and went back to using Compuserve on dial-up. -- I then signed up for broadband, using DSL.extreme, and that worked for me. I am still using it today. -- The problem is, something -- and I'm not sure what -- is still recognizing the now-defunct Verizon e-mail address as my active e-mail address. -- Even on DSL extreme, I have things set up so that my old Compuserve e-mail address is the active one.

SO -- the questions to editmeister is -- when you refer to a "service provider", to which one are you referring? Based on what I have told you, what would you suggest?

All help would be appreciated.
