My efforts to send my dad emails won't send him, and the password that was accepted is not accepted anymore.
The password that was accepted to log into Thunderbird now isn't accepting that password anymore, and when I try to send my father email, it givesves error message. It says, "Sending message from michael.moon@austin.rr.com has failed". Now it doesn't give me a prompt to log into Thunderbird.

Delete the saved passwords. Insert new passwords. These passwords are faulty or old. Change them in the Thunderbird password manager.

Your dads email account is on the spectrum server, You can only send email from spectrum if you are connected to the Spectrum network as the ISP are you? If not you are limited to using their webmail to send mail.
