Profile Missing or Inaccessible error
I simply cannot start Thunderbird despite all my efforts. Thunderbird -p still gives me this error.
I had: moved User data to F: from C: to save space on a small SSD and Thunderbird worked great
Then: F: (an SSD) crashed, wiping out my User info, resulting in the Profile Missing error.
I have: Tried Thunderbird -p in all its configurations including all variants of -p, full file addresses including one to profile stored in old user folder on C:
Uninstalled Thunderbird Cleaned the registry renamed all Thunderbird folders to Thunderbirdxxx Downloaded fresh install file Reinstalled Thunderbird to a drive different than previous installation. Torn all my hair out
Regardless of what I try, Thunderbird always gives me the Profile Missing error and it refuses to create a new default profile.
What might I be missing?

Here is what may be a simple fix: - exit thunderbird - in windows file explorer, click to c:\users\<yourid>\appdata\roaming\thunderbird - open the text file, profiles.ini - this is where thunderbird looks for the location of the profile. if the profile address is not there, thunderbird shuts down. key in the address, save and exit and restart thunderbird
