My Thunderbird layout has changed. I use the classic view. Prior to yesterday each new message was on 1 line, now each message seems to be in a pane of its own taking up the space of about 3 lines. How do I change it back?

You appear to be in Card View, but you want Table View. This may help https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/getting-started-thunderbird-main-window-supernova#w_4-message-list-header

  • There is no "table view" to the right of the quick filter.

There should be a tiny icon there to click. If not, try clicking view>layout> message list header
