My laptop recently died on me and I had to buy a new one. I never gave it a thought to write down my password for the Thunderbird mail account. I have downloaded Thunderbird but I just can`t get into it because it needs a password which I can not supply. Consequently I can`t get into my email account. Is there a way to recover the old password because I really , really need my emails .

Talk to your email provider about password reset options. Note, there is no such thing as a Thunderbird email account. Thunderbird is an application run on your device, so it does not provide email addresses, nor the service to transmit emails.
