I noticed when I deleted the cache and shut down all other applications like Firefox it may not always crash overnight but with other firefox running as well Thunderbird crashes all the time over night normally when the system goes to sleep. I hope that helps.

Some users report it helps to increase+stagger the interval check time for new messages for each account settngs, or turn off automatic check for all but one account.
