Welcome, We are implementing redirected folders in our company via Widnows Server. We are also redirecting the Appdata folder. We have offline mode enabled which means that the folders are synchronised every 5 minutes. The synchronised Appdata folder has a Firefox profile which causes a lot of conflicts. Every time the folder is synced there are conflicts like "Both versions have been updated since the last sync" or "Cannot sync now. Try again". I attach a screen shot of how much of this there is. No other applications cause such errors. Only Firefox blocks us from a large deployment. If the problem cannot be resolved we will be forced to abandon the FireFox browser altogether. Has anyone had a similar problem?

This question would probably be better asked on our enterprise mailing list:

https://groups.google.com/a/mozilla.org/g/enterprise

There are more people there who have deployed Firefox in their organization.

Unfortunately this is not something I am familiar with. I'll ask around.

Thank you for the hint! I also asked the question on the group.

I guess we will have to give up the FireFox browser altogether. Unfortunately no one has given me any help:/

I saw that.

I'll reach out to our desktop integrations team and see if they have any ideas.

Can you confirm that this is only one desktop accessing these files?

"Both versions have been updated since the last sync" is a bit of a red flag here. It sounds like there are multiple Firefox profiles or installations pointed to the same directory, which then end up conflicting.

With the delay of 5 minutes this could easily happen even if both machines are not in use at the exact same time.

Do you have the option to put the Firefox-profile on another location, like a (%username%) network drive instead of AppData? You can then deliver a shortcut to your users with: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox -profile <SHARE>\Mozilla\Firefox\Profilename.

I think it's a good idea to change the location of the default user profile. Has Firefox already introduced a ready-made solution to globally change the default location as described below? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1759673 The user can easily bypass the shortcut :/

We have not, but you're right, that would be good.

So there is no possibility of globally transferring the profile to another location?

The individual profile, yes. You can start Firefox and point to a profile location.
