I suggest installing Thunderbird over the top of your installation.
Hi David I took your suggestion and I now have a working version of Thunderbird, but I don't have all my old emails. How do I get them back? Paul
If this is a POP account, they may still be online. I suggest checking your online account first to confirm that they are there. Then, if it's POP, you could look for a file called popstate.dat in your profile and delete or rename it when Thunderbird is not running and then restart Thunderbird. That should allow you to download any remaining online messages.
