Reseting lockwise password without loosing locallly stored passwords

I have many passwords stored in my local Firefox profile and it's connected to Firefox account synchronization. Unfortunately I've lost my password for the Firefox account long time ago. Now I want to use Firefox Lockwise on my iPhone with all my passwords from desktop so I need to reset the account password. The warning tells that this action will remove all my stored passwords but it doesn't tell what will happen with my locally stored passwords in Firefox profile (btw I also use master password to encrypt them). So what should I do to reset Firefox lockwise account password but keep all my desktop-stored passwords and sync them back to the lockwise account after reset?

Hi wvlad, could I suggest making a backup of your profile? In particular, copy these two files somewhere safe:

  • logins.json
  • key4.db

Info on how to access your profile: Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

When you reset your Firefox Account password, the data stored in the cloud for your account is flushed. The article has a warning for data "on the server": I've lost my Firefox Sync account information - What to do.

Data stored locally in a particular installation of Firefox should not be flushed. As long as you remember your Master Password, you should retain use of the local data. But I do suggest making the backup just in case there is a problem when you reconnect to Sync -- in case it goes the wrong way, if you see what I mean.
