I have always had a "Print" icon in my Thunderbird toolbar. It had a drop down arrow to choose between "Print" and "Print Preview". I use the Print Preview all the time to make sure that I am really going to get what I want before sending it to the printer, and liked the convenience of the toolbar icon. With the recent update to Thunderbird 52.2 the Print toolbar icon is missing. I cannot find a way to add it back - it does not show up in the list of icons to add to the toolbar. I tried rolling back to Thunderbird 52.1 and 52.0, but neither of these gave me back the Print icon.

Right-click the Mail Toolbar, Customize..., drag the Print icon onto the toolbar. This applies to all versions of TB.

Quick update - going all the way back to V45.8.0 I was able to restore the "Print" toolbar icon. I guess I will stay on that old version until I hear that it is fixed in one of the newer ones.

That was what I was trying to do. For some reason the print icon did not show up in the list of icons to add under versions 52.x and above. When I went back to 45.8 I was able to add the print icon the way you describe. Now I tried upgrading back to 52.4 and the print icon remained there. Who knows why.
