Firefox crashes seemingly randomly and without warning. There seems to be no consistent pattern: I've tried replicating the problem by loading multiple resource-heavy websites (sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn't), and sometimes it will crash with just instance of DuckDuckGo open.

I initially thought it was a bug with either uBlock Origin or NoScript, but various combinations of resets/disables/uninstalling hasn't helped.

Safe mode does not stop the crashes, and I have "Refreshed" Firefox twice now, with the same problem recurring on the clean profile.

Most recent crash report: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/aa6cf98e-cec1-4990-8d7a-380da1170514

If any further information is needed, please ask.

I tried a completely clean re-installation, and didn't sign in to Sync, in the hope that it was something else that was causing the problem.

Alas, I got another crash, although this time it was just the web page (in this case Youtube), rather than the whole app. Crash report is here: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/cc55c24b-9dd8-49f5-ad33-b7e0e1170518

If anyone has any input, I'd appreciate it. I'm having to use a different browser at the moment and I'd much rather still be on Firefox.

Sorry to hear about the crashes and thank you for the report IDs.

Firefox 54.0 was released Tuesday, so you might consider updating to see whether that helps. Usually you can use the About Firefox dialog on the Help menu to trigger an update, although the flow of updates is restricted during the first week so not everyone who tries that will be informed about it.

Update Firefox to the latest release

Otherwise, I don't have a clear idea of why calls to the nsStyleContext code would cause memory violations. "An nsStyleContext represents the computed style data for an element." Hmm, okay, so... that sounds totally routine. ???

Now I think about it, I think they started around the time v53 came out. Anyway, I've updated to v54.0 and I will feed back once I've tried it for a while.

If your investigations uncover anything else, please let me know.

Hmm…started okay, but looks like it's still happening. New crash report:

I'm not savvy enough to know about this, but could this be a problem, not with Firefox, but with the RAM in my laptop? Firefox is the only application that has been crashing unexpectedly, but the OS has completely crashed (black screen and boot sequence) a couple of times recently.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! I have the option of buying a new computer, but I'd rather not make that investment if it's not necessary.

Hi

Thank you for providing that information.

I have looked into this and have discussed with a member of Mozilla staff. The crash reports that you have provided suggest that the issue could be to do with the operating system on on device and that we are not seeing the same issue with other users.

I strongly recommend that you contact Apple for support with this issue.
