I have recently updated to thunderbird 38.6.0. It will only download 1 of 13 messages today. I started it in safe mode and it still does the same thing.
I have only one POP account at one home location. I have tried deleting the "popstate.dat" file. I have compacted all folders and used the repair function several times. I do not leave any messages on the server. I have changed the "check for new messages" from every 10 min. to every 15 min. It will still only download the same single message every time and leave 13 others on the server. This message is 3 days old if that matters. I can get all messages when logged in at the provider's Internet site.
Thank you

- same error at the same place in the queue - Maybe there's an email sitting on the server which for some reason is causing a log jam. Perhaps it is an email in the Spam folder or next email in Inbox is having an issue.
Suggest you note the last email that download ok in thunderbird..
- Logon to webmail
- Empty/Delete emails in 'Spam' folder.
In thunderbird
- see if Get Messages' will continue with the download.
If no...in webmail account look for the last message that downloaded ok. The next newest after that email is possibly the one causing the issue.
- Move it to another folder to get it out of the Inbox.
In thunderbird
- see if Get Messages' will continue with the download.
