Is there a way to stop it from updating from 28 to 29 every time I restart my computer? 29 just isn't ready yet. My fix is reinstalling 28 but it's a pain to do every single time.

Here too back to FF28.
Go to Extra / Options / Advanced and there the tab Updates.
There you can choose how to do the updates.
