Firefox for iOS includes an optional ad blocker that can help reduce unwanted advertising while you browse. It uses a filter list based on EasyList to block many ads before they load.

Ad blocking is turned off by default, so you can choose whether to enable it.

What ad blocking does

When enabled, Firefox blocks many types of advertising at the network level, including:

  • Intrusive advertising formats, such as pop-ups and overlays

Because websites use different advertising technologies, some ads may still appear.

What ad blocking does not block

Firefox does not block:

  • Ads shown on search engine results pages, including Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and other search providers
  • Sponsored content on the Firefox Home or New Tab page

Turn ad blocking on or off from Settings

  1. Open Firefox for iOS.
  2. Tap the menu button.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Scroll to Browsing.
  5. In the Content section, turn Ad Blocker on or off.

You can also quickly enable or disable ad blocking from the Site menu.

  1. Open a webpage in Firefox.
  2. Tap the menu to open the Site menu.
  3. Tap Ad Blocker.
    • The Settings menu will open.
  4. Tap Ad Blocker to turn it on or off.

Why do I still see some ads?

Firefox blocks many third-party ads and advertising infrastructure, but not every advertisement can be blocked. Some websites serve ads in ways that are not covered by the current filter list.
