I could not find an extension with this behavior.
For example, I would like all email exchanged (sent & received) to a domain ( @thatcompany.com ) to use a given account alias (myalias.email@proton.me)

After thoroughly searching this database, I could not locate an answer to the issue I am facing, although there seem to have been several similar cases.
My former university has recently decided to delete alumni email accounts, so I am using Thunderbird for email transferring from university to GMail (added both accounts to Thunderbird and then began copying emails and folders). Transfer is slow, depending on the server capabilities etc., but I am going folder by folder and so far it has been fine. I began the transfers a week ago.
Last night I noticed my Thunderbird inbox for my school is not showing anymore. The profile folder is only showing one file (.msf) for Inbox, instead of what should be, in my understanding, two files.
Thunderbird is still communicating well with the university email server because I made a folder rearrangement on the university webmail service (outlook.com) and it showed on Thunderbird. In addition, all my Inbox emails appear fine on the university webmail service (outlook.com).
Any ideas? This is obviously important and urgent.

Upon opening Thunderbird on a Mac (OS 26.5) the program posted a window requesting a password in order to add a new tool to the application. Unfortunately we have lost the password and the program insists it needs the password to continue. An option is offered to 'Ignore', but pressing this button does not launch Thunderbird, rather it sets up some Mozilla 'thingy' operating in the background (the Thunderbird icon in the dock is active) which can be terminated by Force Quitting the process. The thing is, Thunderbird is now unavailable at this point due to the new tool that could not be added to the application.

Since a few days, there seems to be an italicized copy of each folder in my mailbox. I tried multiple times to delete them, but, although they seem deleted, they appear again when I start up Thunderbird. I already contacted the hosting service, but they replied that this is an issue of Thunderbird.

Hi, I am hoping that the community can help me find an answer to this. I have two computers that I use for work. The one in the office has TB running all the time and before I leave for the weekend/vacation I would close TB, copy the profile folder to a USB (or copy it to cloud) and then paste the profile folder on my work laptop (at home). While all the settings get copied (local folders structure, addons etc.) as I use IMAP, it downloads all the mail on the new system regardless. I thought that it should have the latest mail downloaded as part of the profile folder, is that not the case? The bigger issue is that none of the Completed Tasks Lists, Templates, etc. get updated. It still shows all the older stuff on the work laptop and no updates carry over from the PC (at work). Going through the profile folder I see multiple copies of the files prefs.js, folderCache.json, global-messages-db.sqlite appended as: prefs-computername.js and folderCache-computername.json etc. (The computername is the name of the PC - office/laptop) The profile name is the same between the two computers. TB is only started after the profile is copied locally. TB version is the same between systems. I am left scratching my head why somethings are copied but not others. I have a Postfix/Dovecot server that hosts 10 of my domains from one IP.
When you open Thunderbird, it checks the domains you have preset. I have two. This happens immediately, especially if there is no new mail on the server. Everything works fine.
If you have other domain mailboxes open, and I have eight more, and you click the inbox on each one, Thunderbird stalls at the fifth mailbox, regardless of the inboxes' selected order.
tail -f /var/log/mail.log - confirms this.
I have reset or modified everything I can think of. My server is not throttling Dovecot.
This must be something internal to Thunderbird, possibly related to only using a specific mail server IP for all domains.
Google AI suggests assigning a unique local IP alias to each domain on my server so Thunderbird thinks it’s talking to 10 different machines. This seems extreme.
Any solutions?

Hi , I am using the MacBook Pro M5 which is running with macOS Tahoe 26.5 . I have installed Thunderbird mail with version 150.0.2 . After the initial installation with only one account with few mails in the inbox I found the App opening time is abnormally high & is more than 1 minutes . I have removed the mail App few times & re installed it ( even I have re download the app from net again) , but the problem remain same .
I have removed the old folder & files from - ~/Library/Thunderbird/ , ~/Library/Application Support/Thunderbird/ , ~/Library/Caches/Thunderbird/ , org.mozilla.thunderbird from ~/Library/Preferences/. before the re installation & re started the laptop , but no improvement in results .
Also in mail setting references → Unchecked the option - Enable Global Search and Indexer Disable all Extensions and Themes under Tools → Add‑ons & Themes (No Extensions is installed) .
Just to inform that the apple mail is working fine in this laptop .
After all the above trails the results are same , the app once quit & re start - it takes around 1.5 minutes to open after which the app works normally with out any problem . Please suggest if any solution is available for this problem . Best Regards Gautam Banerjee

I've just updated my Thunderbird for Windows to 151 and I got this nasty surprise (this is why I hate updates these days).
The message list in dark mode, in a table view, now has this awful pitch black background instead of the normal dark brown as it used to have. It looks OK in cards mode, but I don't like cards mode.
I certainly hope this is a bug and not by design. Can this be fixed, please? It looks terrible, it's hard to look at, like old Windows 10 dark mode or some high contrast accessibility mode.

I have 2 Windows 11 laptops running Thunderbird. Retrieval of POP3 account email takes 10 times longer on Windows 11 as compared with Windows 7. I have 13 different email accounts. If there is nothing new to download, my windows 7 computer takes 5 seconds to check all account. Windows 11 takes 50 seconds for the same task... clunking along very much slower. I have tried many approaches to tracking down the cause of the slowness. Antivirus software (Norton 360) and various Thunderbird and system settings. Nothing makes any noticeable difference. I'm at a loss for what to try or even to finding anyone discussing the same issue. I have been using Thunderbird on at least 4 windows 7 pcs with no such issue. Both my windows laptops have the same clunky slowness. I want to move to windows 11, but this is holding me back. Is this just inherent to Windows 11? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

It takes about 5 seconds to check all 13 accounts if there is nothing new to download. I have two Windows 11 computers that take about 50 seconds to go through these same accounts under the same conditions (nothing new to download). I have done a lot of searching for answers, but nothing helpful has come up. Any ideas on what might be causing this? Seems like it would be a common problem as both Windows 11 computers do the same thing. Both are Windows 11 Pro. Thanks for any guidance.
