Hello, I recently set up thunderbird for a User on a New Laptop w Win 10 64 Bit I am using thunderbird Version 128.5.2esr 64 Bit For some reason when he gets a Calendar meeting invite the The "This Message contains and invitation to an event" Blue Tab is missing completely. I have compared settings to my thunderbird and absolutely cannot figure out why this is missing on his. I am attaching screen shots. "Test 1" and "Test 2" are what we see, "Missing This" is what we need to be seeing. Please Help

I have added a second computer and it shows under devices on my Google account. My email appears on both computers. When I add events to my calendar they don't get shared, requiring me to make an entry on each machine. Is it possible to enter an event and have it show on both computers without having to enter it twice?

I'm having a strange issue with Thunderbird calendar: I have a CalDav calendar (hosted at infomaniak) set up in Thunderbird. I also have that calendar on my cellphone but using infomaniak sync app and some calendar app on the phone.

I realized that when I create an event on Thunderbird on my laptop with something in description field and the add some info in the description field from my cellphone then the event end up in a strange state on Thunderbird As we can see in joined image when I hover the event in the main calendar view (on the left) the event description appear correctly with its current state (first description line added from laptop and second line added from cellphone) but if I open the event by double click or in edit mode then it doesn't show correctly, the content added from the phone is not there.

This problem seems linked to Thunderbird as on my phone the event appear correctly, as well as when I connect to infomaniak webmail and check how this event appears there.

Do you have any idea how to investigate this further and fix it. It is a very common use case for me, doing that almost every week as I have regular event on which I add specific information in the description field during the week, sometimes from my laptop sometimes from my phone

Hello, Yesterday the Google calendar tab opened with a message and stupidly I didn't read it - I just closed the tab and thought I'd check it later. Then I realised I could neither dismiss TB calendar notifications or snooze them. Next I realised I could no longer add to the TB calendar or delete any items that were already in there. I'm not sure if there has been a recent update which may have brought this about but any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

This is a strange issue. I've been using Thunderbird for over 15 years, and today, while working with a client, I attempted to click "New Event," but it was greyed out. After ending the call, I started troubleshooting.

Steps I’ve Taken:

  • Re-added all existing accounts—no change.
  • Tried adding a fresh calendar—received a strange error (which I didn’t copy) about encryption or a "request missing required authentication credential."
  • Uninstalled Provider for Google Calendar and removed all accounts.
  • Same authentication error—Google sign-in system wouldn't appear.
  • Searched Google for recent similar issues—nothing in the past 30 days, nothing within the past year.
  • Restarted my computer.
  • Was able to re-add all accounts, but nothing is syncing.
  • At this point, I’m completely baffled. No system changes have been made. I'm running Windows 10 with the latest version of Thunderbird and its extensions. My system clock and timezone are correct.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I came into my home office this morning and started my Windows 10 machine from scratch (cold boot). I loaded Thunderbird and read and deleted some email. Then I went to enter a Task in the same calendar I always install Tasks in and it won't let me enter a new Task at all. The input field tells me to select a calendar that supports tasks. Well, I have! I open the Events and Messages menu option and the Enter Task command is grayed out. What the heck is going on? How can I get the ability to enter Tasks back?

I'm getting a little tired of dealing with all the issues in Thunderbird. I have spent hours trying to debug this with no success.

Two days ago I got a suspicious message in the form of a window that opened on my Firefox browser, purportedly from the author of Google Calendar Provider, soliciting contributions. Not expecting the window, and not certain of its authenticity I closed it.

Yesterday my calendar failed by popping up two notifications from my Google calendar via Thunderbird. I could not dismiss them. Other users have occasionally noted this issue. I tried closing and opening Thunderbird and rebooting. The alerts persisted.

So I removed the Google calendar from Thunderbird. The alerts went away. Hooray!

But when I reinstalled my Google calendar through Calendar Provider, the calendar showed up on the list of calendars, but non of its events appeared. Synchronization, closing Thunderbird, and rebooting did not help.

I can't tell whether I was hit by some kind of e-blackmail (pay up or else), or if something changed in Thunderbird, or what. No antivirus measures have been triggered, and my Windows 11 system is set up as a local account without administrative privileged. I am up to date on Windows updates. Running Thunderbird 128.8.1 esr

Since upgrading to thunderbird 128.6.0esr, my shared google calendars no longer show any events.

The activity manager shows it is stuck trying to sync, but not going anywhere.

Onn checking the developer logs, the following messages are displayed.

Anybody else having this problem or know of a solution. (I have removed "CALDAV" and "TB SYNC" extensions - also installed "TB SYNC 4")

This is not a question. It is a statement of issues. I recently bought a new computer and tried to install Thunderbird on my new system. The installation went fine. The setup was one problem after another. Thunderbird required multiple attempts to connect with Outlook and sync my account. Next, I tried to import my contacts. Thunderbird failed numerous attempts to sync contacts. I finally had to manually import my contacts. Then spent an hour manually cleaning up my contacts. Thunderbird seems to have randomly assigned field names. (Names imported as numbers or dates) In addition, it imported contacts without associated data. (No email address, phone numbers etc.) After all that, Thunderbird would not allow me to use any of the contacts. The address book is there, the contacts are there, but it would not reference the address book when I tried to send an email. I had to go to the address book, copy the email and paste it into the to: field.

Next, I tried to create events and tasks. First problem, all calendars were disabled by default and no option was offered to enable the calendars. I spent another 45 min. trying to find a setting or something to enable the calendars. When I finally got them enabled, I spent another hour trying to get Thunderbird to create events and tasks. Thunderbird will not create either. I spent far more time than is rational to create each event and task. When I completed each attempt, Thunderbird trashed them. No event or task was ever created. At this point I uninstalled Thunderbird and wrote it off as a bad idea.

Folks, I am not new to this. I have been using similar apps since their early days. I know how to install and setup these apps. I am very familiar with the problems that may be encountered. And this far worse than anything I have seen in a long time. I do not know what is going on at Mozilla, but they have got some serious problems to work out. I will steer clear of Thunderbird for now.

In my Google calendar, I have the automatic birthday calendar. The birthdays of people in my (Google) contact list will appear in my calendar. See the first attached image.

In Thunderbird, I have subscribed to my Google calendar (and Google contacts), but birthdays are duplicated in my Thunderbird (Google) calendar. See the second attached image. One birthday appears to be originating from the Google birthday (red) calendar, and one from my main/personal Google (green) calendar (which has two icons that I don't know the meaning of).

Why are birthdays being duplicated in Thunderbird?

In Thunderbird, I can resolve the issue by unchecking the option to 'Sync from <email address>' in the settings for the birthday calendar in my Google account. See the third attached image. This solves the problem for Thunderbird; see the fourth attached image. But then in my Google calendar, birthdays disappear. See the fifth attached image.

Is there a solution that allows the birthdays calendar to be synced correctly in both Google and Thunderbird without showing duplicates and without disappearing?

thunderbird freezes when using "until: forever" events in Calendar

Hi, I´ve installed Thunderbird today, clean installation (no prior installation). So it´s 128.7.1esr (64-bit) version on top of my Windows10 Pro fully updated.

I´ll use Thunderbird just to manage my personal agenda in Calendar, I won´t be using the email part so I didn´t configure the email client.

When I create a recurring event with due date "forever" the app starts lagging so badly, and when ir finally creates the events, if I change any of them (for example I drag it to another hour) the whole app freezes and I need to close it from Task Manager. I´ve tried to let it working for a while, and when I´m back it eventually completed the change, but I don´t know how long it takes. After closing with TaskManager, I see the change has been applied.

I´ve followed this instructions to run in Troubleshoot Mode https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird#w_start-thunderbird-in-troubleshoot-mode

And it works!! in Troubleshoot Mode, and more specifically disabling add-ons the Calendar works just fine. BUT, the problem is, I´m using a clean installation: I haven no add-ons at all, and only the 3 default themes that can not be deleted/disabled.

How can I fix this? or I´m forced to enter in Troubleshoot Mode every time? Maybe a previous version is better for using the Calendar alone, without an email account?

BTW I´ve dissabled the hardware acceleration, just in case, but it didn´t help.
