In Firefox, I have audio and video autoplay blocked globally, and added an exception for one particular website (Discord). However, Discord now only autoplays videos once, but doesn't loop them as it should (they implemented GIFs as videos, but now they don't loop).

Of course this could be interpreted as a bug in Discord's web client. However, there shouldn't be a difference between a website that got an exception and autoplay being globally allowed. Therefore i suspect that there is a bug in firefox where some property, state, or hint is set differently depending on whether a page has been added to exceptions or autoplay is allowed globally.

Is there anything i can do to work around this? I really want an autoplay exception to actually work as expected (the website doesn't need to know that it's special)

Is it possible to click individual segments of an URL in the address bar to navigate there directly (without manually selecting and deleting the tail)? It's a convenient way to reach upper layers of a website.

For example Vivaldi implements it via Ctrl+<Mouseover/click> (see attached screen capture)

Is there an option or addon to enable this? Thanks in advance

I'm using Fedora 43 and Xfce4 on my desktop, with four workspaces active. Thunderbird is on one and Firefox on another. What's supposed to happen is that my desktop should change to the one with Firefox and the link should open up on a new tab. What actually happens is that Firefox moves to the workspace Thunderbird's on, covering it up and the link opens on a new tab. I'm presuming that there's some sort of setting issue, but have no idea how to find it

Hey folks, just wondering when the Windscribe add‑on will be moved to the MV3 framework. Other browsers already have it at v4.x and I’d love to see Firefox catch up so we can use the new privacy features. Is there an ETA on the review/approval process? TIA

I have lost my tabs after the recent update. They used to show all tab groups in toolbar icon as mentioned here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tab-groups) in manage tabs section. Only the groups that were open are retained, the groups which were closed are lost. They contained important tabs which I haven't bookmarked. I didn't see any policy of removal of inactive tab groups after certain time, any help would be really appreciated. I use the desktop app on Linux.

Anyone else having an issue with the newest firefox in Linux Mint? I don't know what's causing it but when multiple tabs open my address bar and all other primary buttons/icons (including the menu button) don't work, only the download button. Across multiple tabs. Not using any groupings/classifications or any "new" tab features or vertical windows etc.

OS: Linux Recently, firefox has been annoying me with not closing a tab when I click the X like normal. I have to right click and close it, or press ctrl w. I am unable to move tabs around, as well. I am not sure since when this next bit has been happening, but I am also unable to interact with many elements of the top bar. The only thing of the firefox ui besides the websites themselves that let me interact with them at the moment is the home button, the new tab button, bookmarked sites, and that box icon on the left corner that lets you look at previously closed tabs. My Firefox's version should around, I believe it is 140.5.0 ESR. Thank you in advance. Update: Upon a restart of firefox, it appears to be working again as normal.. However, the bit with tabs not closing when the X is clicked and not being able to move tabs around has been happening multiple previous times, and it may come back. Update again: The issue does come back after some usage. I'm using KDE plasma with Wayland. I will try what the answer asked, and come back later.

When I encounter an embedded video on a website that plays, an icon to toggle picture in picture pops up in the URL bar (see attached image). I don't use picture in picture, and for some websites which have an "endless scrolling" experience with videos, such as reddit or facebook, it is slightly annoying that while I am focusing the middle of the screen, something changes in the top right, making me think a tab has an update and changed title. I have the picture in picture controls turned off in settings (one with the id=pictureInPictureToggleEnabled in general, my Firefox is not English), I thought it would also make said button go away but it does not.
