Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

THANK YOU, TONY E. & THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!! U saved me fm suicide. There is no way I can state my appreciation, except that U SAVED THE DAY & my TOTAL everything ONLINE. BLESS YOU & GOOD PPL such as U!!! Barbara H.
WHY DON'T YOU JUST SAY SO???? Besides, your download page was mislabeled when I downloaded. I always look for "PPC" version and this supposedly was. I came from the Yahoo.com page recommending a optimized version.
http://downloads.yahoo.com/firefox/sysreq this page says it's for PPC please change it - yes, it's yahoo, but it's your product.
Yahoo are showing the system requirements for Firefox 3.*, the link at the bottom takes you to the system requirements for Firefox 4. I have emailed Yahoo, hopefully they will update their page.
This ALL could have been prevented if Mozilla had listed sys rqmts...I would NEVER have downloaded, and never do B4 checking this. I TRUSTED Mozilla. As TonyE wrote, this is more typical of MSFT & IE & yes, Apple, although Apple always lists sys rqmts. I totally appreciate the cogent writing of how we possess perfectly good, and yes, great older computers, esp. Macs, that become junk w/tech advances to FORCE us to BUY more & more ALL the time. We cannot always afford the ongoing march of this ongoing buying of new, new, new. Furthermore, I'm not a web designer, nor do I make iMovies, and I don't need any of the fancy-schmancy apps included. I still have my original iMac OS9 & software, and another that was actually Made in USA, Cupertino, CA 1999--prob the LAST one. I still miss many neat apps that were in my original OS 9. Question: How long will the 3.6+ I downloaded work b4 I can/may/have to switch to your developing browser Clozilla which supports older units --since FF4 has cut us off--we troglodites need to know!! Thanks again! After all, this is really all about $$$; those of us w/o are not only already left behind, but increasingly so, esp. in this long "GREAT Recession". Not only does a "fixed income" person suffer, but it becomes an almost grave situation where we cannot conduct the usual activities of daily life and face cutoff fm the rest of the world.
P.S. Work faster bc FF4 is still on ur homepage w/no warnings!!
When this happened to me, I simply went online with Safari and then re-loaded the earlier version of Firefox. As I recall, Firefox "remembered" all my bookmarks. I didn't have many yet, so that wasn't a big deal to me. I think two other possibilities would be to look in your downloads file to see if the first Firefox was still there and/or to look in the trash to see if the first download was there. Compatibility issue should definitely have been mentioned!
sthomas210@comcast.net--that's how I got online eventually bc I have Safari +last upgrade. I also looked in downloads & trash, etc., feeling surely that FF 3.6.16 had to be there somewhere, but it wasn't. Appears that when I downloaded FF4, somehow any earlier version(s) were deleted. Still cannot figure why wasn't in downloads.... Somehow, somewhere I found within Mozilla, the previous version & downloaded it, with ALL my bzillion bookmarks (my #1 anguish), passwords restored. However, it is def not perm installed bc now everytime I turn on my iMac, I have to click the FF icon in apps, then it appears on my toolbar, & then when I click it, Mozilla Start page as before, is there. Feeling very uneasy, esp. wondering if it will suddenly disappear, as Mozilla more or less is saying, no more spt for users of "older" equipment. Have loved & appreciated FF for soooo long--just not crazy about Safari & tired of "starting over". Wondering if I try Clozilla, will it "clone" my present version of FF or what? Certainly have been spoiled by FF.
