"Script: chrome://searchshield/content/avgls-active.js:70" scrip running on page error message keeps popping up

I keep getting messages that a scrip is running on the page. It used to be once every couple of days, then every day, now every couple of minutes. An example of the message:

"Script: chrome://searchshield/content/avgls-active.js:70"

How do I fix this?

The problem is caused by a malfunctioning AVG add-on. Try disabling the AVG search shield add-on.

  1. In the Tools menu select Add-ons
  2. In the list of Extensions click on the AVG extension to select it
  3. Click on the Disable button, then re-start Firefox

This should stop the error.
