When I click on a Bookmark from the bar it won't stay on screen long enough to select item, how do I fix this
I have reset to default settings several times, but it is not fixing the problem.
When I drop down a book mark from toolbar or try to get to add ons on upper right the drop down does not stay on screen long enough for me to select the item I want.
I have checked the add ons and extensions and nothing is there besides the Mozilla loaded items and adobe.
Further this does not happen in my Safari browser so it is not a computer problem but rather isolated to Firefox. This started after the update on 9/18/18.
Thanks

Hi jesskidog, those drop-downs -- bookmarks toolbar folders, the bookmarks menu that drops from the optional bookmarks menu toolbar button (
), and the main application menu -- shouldn't close on their own. (The add bookmark dialog does have a 5 second pause to wait for interaction before closing.)
If Firefox receives a click outside of the menu, or the Esc key, or another window becomes active, then Firefox will close the menu. But where would any of those be coming from, if that's the explanation? Hmm...
You could test making the menu stickier to see what happens: only pressing Esc or clicking the button again will close the drop-down with this setting.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste pop and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the ui.popup.disable_autohide preference to switch the value from false to true
Does that make any difference? (It may be annoying in some cases.)
Your suggestion does work. But obviously it still doesn’t answer the what causes the problem in the first place. What problems or issues will I encounter with this change that can make it “annoying”?
In trying to drop tings down from the bookmark tool bar, I was very careful to focus on the time and can almost guarantee that i did not stray or hit escape. I would guess the list was only on screen for 1 second or less.

So the test suggests Firefox thinks you are moving the focus somewhere. I don't have an explanation. Maybe someone else more familiar with MacOS will have a theory.
Or could it be the LastPass extension?
Anyway, if you don't encounter drop-downs being stickier than you want, maybe you won't be annoyed by this setting at all.
