I wanted to download firefox on my computer and ended up here instead. Allowed access to my computer but didn't finish the process and shredded whatever was downloaded. Do you know who open-download is and are they legit?

You should only download and install Firefox from the official Mozilla servers (mozilla.org) and never from a link that you find via a search or is provided on a web page even if it includes Firefox or Mozilla. When you install Firefox from another website then you will likely end up with some malware or adware.

Some search engines like Google and Bing can have Ads above the real search results. Theses Ads can lead to questionable sites if not careful.

If it is a *.mozilla.org url then it will be legit.
