Where did the back/forward bar go?

In 2.0, most pages (and apps like Tumblr and Twitter) had a black back/forward bar at the bottom of the screen that would auto hide. It seems to have disappeared, which means that if I follow a link within Tumblr I can't get back to my dash.

I'm not even sure what the bar was *called*. But it is gone. Is there a secret "back to the last screen" gesture in 2.2? Is there a setting somewhere to put that bar back?

I believe you can go back by swiping the screen from the left side to the right to go back to the previous page.
