A month ago while i was having a call, firefoxOS crashed as whole.

It restarted without restarting the phone (no sim lock).

a mozilla crash reporter opened and i sended the crash report to mozilla.

after that most of the installed apps show blank.

but all the content is there. i can scroll, i can tap, i can swipe, i can call. but i have to do it blind.

i added a few screenshots that will show the problem.

Question: how can i read the crash report with ADB? Question: how can i get back to a normal system? (best wouldt be true ADB/recovery)

Phone: Alcatel One Touch Fire E (6015X) System: FirefoxOS 2.0 (got it via FOTA update at christmas like described here: https://www.soeren-hentzschel.at/mozilla/firefox-os/2014/12/25/fire-e-alcatel-one-touch-verteilt-firefox-os-2-0-und-firefox-hello/ )

unfortunatly i cannot get to systemsettings to see the exactly build number...

I made a solution myself ->

cause: sending the phone to any service partner results in 3-5 weeks waiting time just to get a software reset (done in minutes.) is really annoying for me.

i wiped the cache and made a factory reset in recovery mode, which i reached by holding the volume-up + on/off button together on the turned off phone.

this did the trick.

ps.: i will start now other questions i have

Hi Tom,

I'm sorry to hear about your issue with your Firefox OS device from Alcatel.

It appears, as you mentioned, that some applications are not affected by this "overlay" on top of the user interface. Is this correct? If so, can you provide examples of some applications that are affected by this issue, and some that are not?

I created a Bugzilla ticket #1126522 to track this issue. I am also contacting our QA department to find more information on how to view crash report data and/or reset the device using ADB commands.

In the meantime, I would also suggest contacting Alcatel for further support. Manufacturers have custom builds for their devices, and there may be bugs caused by these customizations. They may have more insight into what happened with your device.

Thanks,

- Ralph

Hi Tom,

Thank you for this additional information. I included it in the tracking bug.

It also appears that Alcatel may have a Service Center in Austria. Please view the following Alcatel site for more information:

Hi Tom,

I'm happy to hear that you were able to resolve your issue. Losing your profile data because of the factory reset is unfortunate, but it's better than waiting 3-5 weeks waiting time. Thank you for sharing the solution.

I will be updating the bug accordingly.
