spell check not working - does not ID misspelled words even after an F7

type email, see no red underlines. Well I suck at spelling so that is odd. I hit f7 - spell check confirms all is good. Cut and paste text into Word - lots of misspellings.

Back in Thunderbird I highlight misspelled word, hit f7 and now it comes up as misspelled. Now other words pop as being misspelled when before they did not. Same text earlier found no errors. This has been occurring for awhile. US english
