Bookmarks on desktop screen have very blurry writing on my samsung tablet.

The bookmark icon cannot be changed, but the name of a bookmark can be edited by long tapping the bookmark in the Firefox app and selecting "Edit" from the menu. The edited bookmark can then be added to the desktop screen by long tapping the bookmark and selecting "Add to Home Screen." The bookmark must be added to the home screen after being edited in order for the changes to take effect.
