Thunderbird--All of my current year INBOX emails disappeared. I have tried repairing the folder, deleting INBOX.msf and restarting including in troubleshooting mode, reinstalled Thunderbird. None of these actions changed the situation. Is it possible to retrieve these messages?

The INBOX folder is much larger than the INBOX.msf folder, so I'm thinking the message info is in there?

I;m using Windows 10.

All my saved mails in my local archives dissappeared about one week ago, probably in connection with a system update of my Thunderbird mail box. These mails are important for me. How do I do to get them back? Best regards, Monica Biander

I’m on Thunderbird 148.0.1 (aarch64), and having an issue each time I go to my Sent folder. What happens is this. I try to select an email I just sent minutes ago, and Thunderbird scrolls down to almost the last sent email (in my case, as I keep everything, that email could be years old).

This is only on my M1 MacBook Pro, as on my 2018 Intel Mac Mini (both systems are running Sonoma 14.8.4 I can select any recent email in my Sent folder and the selection stays.

I have 4 email accounts with Thunderbird. When a message comes in it is posted on ALL of the accounts. What am I doing wrong? A few days ago I lost all of my saved email messages, plus "sent" emails, and "deleted" emails. I had important information stored there for future use. I am hoping to be able to retrieve it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I have several emails (personal and business) that I use and have them grouped in Unified inbox. Recently one of those emails showed up as a new folder (just under Trash folder) in bold type. It has with a varying number of emails in it, now 18. When I click on the 'open folder arrow', a subfolder 'Archives' with nothing in it shows up. When I open the email folder a new page appears with the email as a header and underneath 'set up another account', 'import from another program', 'about mozilla thunderbird', and 'resources'. What is happening? How can I get rid of this folder since I can't read any of the emails in it and it is just a duplicate of the folder that already is working find in the inbox? TIA

Mais j'ai utilisé Thunderbir depuis quelques années. Mais la, j'ai pour raisons personnelles ai du effacer et réinstaller l'application. Je ne sais pas ce qui s'est passé, mais plus rien ne fonctionne. A chaque fois que je fais une tentative j'ai toujours ce message d'erreur: "Connexion au serveur impossible. La configuration, l'identifiant ou le mot de passe sont probablement incorrects" . J'attends avec impatience votre aide. Je vous remercie tous

I just wonder why all mails suddenly seem to be totally disappeared. Without any warning. Althoug there should be 20 mails (which figure has only been creasing for the time being/already for hours. :( Also all ready models/musters seem to be deleted. So I can't add my usual signature as easy as usuaylly:

I've tried setting up Thunderbird archiving according to the documentation to save archived messages locally, and in the same hierarchy they had when I archived them. That is, if I have:

INBOX

   Box1
   Box2

... etc. then archiving would create a parallel structure in Local Folders

However, this isn't working.

I select "Keep message archives in Other (Archives on Local Folders).

For "Archive Options" I select "A single folder", "Keep existing folder structure of archived messages" and "Recreate inbox folder".

However, when I archive something, Thunderbird just creates a folder "2026" (this year) and puts the message in there.

Why are my settings NOT working?

Hi all — I’m running into a persistent threading issue in Thunderbird (v.148) vthat survives profile rebuilds and affects only specific conversations.

Symptoms Some threads show the expand/collapse carrot normally.

Other threads (same accounts, same folders, same time period) do not show the carrot.

The pattern is consistent: the same conversations fail before and after a full profile rebuild.

Both Inbox and Sent show a mix of threaded and unthreaded conversations.

No global setting seems to be wrong, because most threads work correctly.

View → Sort By → Threaded

For the conversations that don’t thread, the headers also appear normal:

No obvious corruption, malformed IDs, or missing brackets.

What I’m trying to understand Why would Thunderbird:

Successfully thread most conversations

Fail to thread specific conversations

Preserve the same failures before and after a rebuild

Show carrots in Inbox but not in Sent for the same conversation

Show no global misconfiguration

Is there a known edge case where Thunderbird rejects a thread even when the headers appear correct?

Are there hidden rules about ambiguous References: chains, multi‑server storage, or cross‑account BCC workflows that could cause this?

Any insight into how Thunderbird decides not to show a carrot would be appreciated.

Does TB have a "complication" that I can put on my watch face? Most modern watch faces have slots for data provided by app developers like number of pending messages. Does TB have a complication for watch faces.

I've moved last week from Microsoft Outlook from Mozilla Thunderbird on my MacBook Pro laptop for managing my e-mail accounts.

I've added an Outlook account (e-mail xxx@hotmail.com) to Thunderbird. However after using Thunderbird a few days I've discovered that some sub-folders in my private folders are missing.

I've added in attachment an image showing my folders on my mobile phone (using Microsoft Outlook) and an image showing my folders on my laptop (using Thunderbird where both 'Bureau' and 'Instruments & Lumières' are missing).

Hi, I found occasion when Thunderbird Android app shows incorrect timestamp of messages in Sent folder. Two screenshots are attached. One from Thunderbird Android the other from Gmail android clients. Thanks fro investigating the case, Antal Komar
