I tried changing the authentication method to OAUTH2 for my Outlook live mail account (POP). For that, I had to change the server name to office365.com. After restarting Thunderbird, I was able to download new messages but all the old messages already stored in Thunderbird disappeared, even though Thunderbird still shows the same old Local Directory as being used.

How do I change the authentication to OAUTH2 & get my old messages back?

If I delete & again create the Outlook live account, would it effect my old mails/filters ?

When I delete an account all goes well until I close Thunderbird. When re-opening the account is still there.

Other than that all is working well.

Hi, We do have some problem upon mail synchronization between CPanale mail ( my mail server) with Thunder bird ( on my laptop). We have found that when we access my mail server ( CPanal ) directly and   delete some mail, that mail ( In my Thunder Bird mail box - upon my Laptop) will be automatically removed from my Thunder Bird mail on my Laptop. I was sorry to see that the 128 Nebula release did not fix the longstanding problem that Thunderbird is very slow to load in Sonoma, and has been since the Sonoma release. This is with 128.0.1esr (64-bit) on an Apple M1 Mac Mini with Sonoma 14.6. I have the same problem on a 2018 Mac Book Pro running Sonoma with an Intel chip. The problem is NOT manifest on a 2013 Mac Book Pro running the last release of Big Sur. In all 3 cases the same email accounts are loaded, so it is some interaction with the OS. (I previously reported this for Tbird 115 under Sonoma, with no resolution.)

Specifically, when I start Tbird 128 on the Sonoma M1 the window comes up in about 2 seconds but contents are blank. The contents don't fill until about 30 seconds. This makes it painful to quickly hop into email to do something, so I am resorting to Apple Mail when in a hurry. If I do the same on my 2013 Big Sur machine, it's 2 seconds for the window to come up and 8 seconds for the content to fill. Upgrading from 115 to 128 did not change this on any of the machines.

None of the enhancements of recent releases are of sufficient value to compensate for this, so I wish the team would focus on ensuring speed on all platforms. Is there any clue what is going on?

Previously all of the email accounts created in thunderbird worked flawlessly, one day when checking email automatically a seperate window opened displaying the error "Access Denied", I searched the net for a solution and could not find one, it is very possible that one of the most recent linux updates may have changed something as I recall a larger than normal update just before this occurred a few days ago.

For about a month now Thunderbird has been taking sent emails and doing one of several things. 1. Replacing the text with lines and lines of numbers and letters, 2. Removing the "From" and "Subject" lines and the message, leaving the message blank, BUT adding an attachment that has nothing to do with the recipient; 3. Sending some sent messages to trash after I have tagged them. I use emails like a paper trail, to check, to see if there are any emails I am still waiting to hear an answer back on, etc. Thunderbird has been my favorite email client since I was first told about it. Here is what I did. Does anyone have a better way?

I use GoodSync like this: I installed GoodSync. I created a new Job in GoodSync to Backup Thunderbird profile to a location I chose. Then I set up a task in task scheduler I then put this in the Program Script of the Action tab: "C:\Program Files\Siber Systems\GoodSync\gsync.exe" Then I proceeded to set up a schedule to run GoodSync I run it each evening. It works very well.

Better suggestions are welcome.

I rely on Windows/Inbox heavily to switch to inbox. New version (115) has these tile stuff at top of Window menu bar - and I saw Inbox down below sometimes but in compose window Inbox link is missing in Window menu item. This is a HUGE problem for quick maneuverability.

I run Thunderbird on to Notebooks. All I can detect in the settings is perfectly the same, also the saved password. In the older account, Thunderbird starts automatically and my emails are shown. Nevertheless I can not send emails from there because the password for the smtp server is said to be wrong. But my internet provider valued this password and checked what they could! The never installation asks for my password and doesn't accept my entry of the password although it is the same as shown to be saved... Thanks for your help!

On my Laptop, I have four email boxes mileoak@rogers.com, i-75dave@rogers.com, dave_hunter@rogers.com & book-orders@rogers.com. Whenever I try to get messages, I get a Thunderbird comment, "Connection to server pop.mail.yahoo.com was reset."

My connection in and out of my accounts worked perfectly on September 10th. When I signed in to Thunderbird on the morning of the 11th, I received the above message.

Here are the settings for dave_hunter@rogers.com (the least important of my accounts).

Incoming server: pop.mail.yahoo.com Username: Dave_Hunter@rogers.com Port: 995 Security: SSL/TLS Authentication: OAuth2

SMTP server: smtp.broadband.rogers.com Port: 465 Security: no authentication User Name: Dave_Hunter

Nothing changed at my end between September 10 and 11th. Have also used these settings for year with no problems.

I recently received a suggestion from sfhowes and tried the changes suggested with no success.

I'm in the middle of a heavy email sales campaign and have tried to switch to the Yahoo email menus which I find very cumbersome compared to Thunderbird. All the files I need are on my suspended Thunderbird system.

Can somebody please get me back on track so I can start using Thunderbird again?

Thankful blessings to whoever can solve this connection problem. I would even pay for professional help if it was available.
