On my home page i have 2 rows of short cuts. Then the latest news listings. Can I change the types of news listings? For example one story might be from NPR while the next can be from CNN then another from MSNBC. Non of which interests me. Is there away to set sites in the settings to list News and events that I would be interested in? Sites like The Wire, Reuters, NewsMax, RT, The National Desk, etc. So would there be a way to get those headlines? Thanks

My original thread got archived so I'm displaying it again here for reference and so that I can post the fact that I am happy to report that the developers have now corrected this issue as of the latest 135 release. Here are the basics of the previous posts minus the screenshots:

      • Blue progress bar no longer showing after clicking on download icon in Firefox ***

9 months ago 5/4/24, 7:44 AM

Some months ago, Firefox stopped displaying the blue progress bars that would normally show once you clicked on the download icon. You still see the usual file info but now the progress bar of the download is gray instead of blue and is extremely hard to see. But if you click on the "show all downloads" link, then the blue progress bar will show as usual for any in-progress downloads in the Library window, as shown in the second screenshot.

It isn't a huge issue but is still annoying when you just want to quickly see the progress of downloads in Firefox. I haven't changed any of the colors in Firefox or in Windows for that matter, I'm currently running Windows 10. All other dialog boxes, windows, etc. all display normally on my system. Just curious if anyone else is having this problem and hopefully a future update can take care of it.

Thanks very much!

I'm still seeing a good color contrast on both the system theme and dark theme (with a smaller file, though). It looks like gray is used when the download is paused (third part of screenshot attached).

Your screenshot doesn't say that the download is paused, but I wonder whether the gray indicates that it is stalled, i.e., not proceeding? On the other hand, if the Ctrl+J Show All Downloads list has the blue bar, then maybe that's not intentional. I think someone will need to dig into the mismatch further.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

Switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Thanks for the replies. The download was not paused in the first screenshot, it was progressing normally. And I started Firefox in Troubleshoot mode and that made no difference, still have the gray download progress bar instead of blue.

As I mentioned above, this issue has finally been fixed. It may have taken them nine months but at least they got the job done. :-)

BTW, I didn't understand the posting about security connection issues and my error message seems different than the ones highlighted in the article. _______________ An error has occurred invalidRequest X-request-id: a6547f80-e155-11ef-b409-| d532a6575ae7.db7795a0-ee4b-11ef-b409-| d532a6575ae7 Copy IDs to clipboard

I'm setting up Firefox on a new computer. I haven't done this for a while and the interface has changed, so I'm not sure how it works.

I want to move my Firefox profile to a directory in the Documents library to simplify backup. Following the Mozilla instructions I found, I opened about:profiles and clicked the Create New Profile button. I deleted the contents of the directory that Create New Profile created and copied the contents of the default profile directory to it. The last step is to tell Firefox to use my new profile instead of its default.

But the about:profile page lists three profiles: default-release, default, and my new one. The first two have a Set as default profile button; the last does not. So it appears that I can tell Firefox to use the default-release profile or the default profile, but there's no way I can tell it to use my new profile. I can only Launch profile in new browser -- presumably something I'll have to do every time I run Firefox.

This makes no sense. How can I tell Firefox to use my new profile -- not to launch a new browser with it, but to use it, period? If I can't, why can't I? Every version of Firefox I've ever installed up to now allowed this.

Also, the default-release profile section of about:profiles has the note "This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted." So it appears that Firefox uses the default-release profile instead of the default profile as its default profile. What is the default-release profile? Why isn't the default profile the default profile?

I'm using Firefox on Windows 10.

For a long time I've been experiencing freezing in downloads of all sorts of files sizes and different hosts. I start the download, sometimes they finish normally (if smaller sizes) but most of the time they freezes at random percentage and I have to restart from the start.

For downloading larger files are a pain, to have wait and need to keep restart if it freezes.

When I'm using others browser, such as LibreWolf and Zen Browser (forks of Firefox), it doesn't happen and all downloads work flawless.

I tried to go onto Weatherbell (www.weatherbell.com) and got the Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue. I had just been on the site 2 hours ago. Why all of a sudden is there a security issue? I cannot contact the website manager there, as I can't get on the site to email them.

Solution?
