Recently, whenever I put a video in PiP, the whole browser freezes. I'm not sure what causes it. The PiP player itself is playing and working fine, it's the browser as a whole that freezes completely. I can play/pause and even pop it back to its tab, but when I do, the browser is inaccessible to me because it freezes, despite the video still playing normally. I can only terminate the browser with Task Manager, otherwise the video will continue playing and the Firefox process goes on the background.

I have tried Googling for a way to fix it, but nothing seems to work. Some of the recommendations were to turn Hardware Acceleration off, allow autoplay, upgrade GPU drivers, and test in Troubleshoot Mode. I have autoplay completely off (including in about:config) and gave an exception to YouTube. I don't think this is the problem though, because I've had it set up this way for a long time, and the browser freezing only started happening recently. I have had Hardware Acceleration off for a while too, so it's not because of that. My GPU drivers are up-to-date (Nvidia). The browser still freezes in Troubleshoot Mode.

The problem is not limited to YouTube. Wherever I can pop the player off with PiP, it will freeze the whole browser (like Twitch or any other site with video player capabilities). I tried playing a video in a different browser and it worked just fine with no freezing, it only happens in Firefox.

I noticed that the common issue people report is the PiP player itself freezing, but my case is the exact opposite. The PiP plays fine while the rest of the browser freezes. I really like this feature and don't want to turn it off if possible. I like to pop the video out and watch it play while I scroll around on my desktop.

I have recently purchased a new Windows 11 computer, and want to install Firefox there and transfer all my bookmarks, passwords, etc. There are obviously quite a few Support articles on this topic, and seemingly quite a few methods to use: copy and paste profile folder, sync, the backup/restore function within Settings, etc. I'm a bit reluctant to use sync, as some users report it can be an incomplete transfer. My current profile also may contain some "corruption", so I'm reluctant to copy the entire profile folder to the new computer.

My questions are: 1. Why is it "best is to avoid restoring a full profile folder"? 2. Is this the complete list of "important files that are safe to restore/transfer"? 2. In my profile folder, there are several files that start with the same file name, but then have different file extensions. For example: cookies.sqlite, cookies.sqlite.bak, cookies.sqlite-shm, cookies.sqlite-wal. Should I restore ALL these files, or just "cookies.sqlite"? 3. Is the correct procedure to copy the selected files from the "old" profile, and then paste them to the "new" profile, which presumably would overwrite files of the same name in the "new" profile? There is a perfectly functional search bar in the middle of my homepage. why do I have to search with the anything but "awesomebar"? I have made so many changes to about:config true to false false to true firefox will probably never work again properly. There should be a check box somewhere in settings to toggle this on and off. Newer is not always better

FireFox browser closed and when I opened it all my bookmarks are gone, all of my history is gone everything is gone as though I never ever used firefox in my life.

For the last 2-3 day I have been experiencing a box that asks for my signature each time I go to a new website. I can't move the box. I can't screenshot it. Does anyone know how I can get rid of it?

When trying to set Firefox to open a file on Windows 11, it is overwritten by Firefox Nightly. I have both branches installed.

This is how it goes when attempting to set Firefox as a default application in my machine:

1. "Apps > Default Apps"
2. .mp4 (for example)
3. click the button below that displays the current default application
4. Firefox Nightly appears in this menu
5. "Choose an app on your PC"
6. "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox" ... "firefox.exe" ... "Open"
7. Firefox Nightly remains in this menu

I cannot get Firefox to appear as an available app in this menu. The only workaround, although inconvenient, is to drag and drop files straight into Firefox.

Simple: just wanting to forward a news article to a friend, but I have to go through all this mess first !! I am running out of time, and may just quit. So frustrating.

I have set the setting for PDF files to Always Ask. When I select the "Open in Firefox" option from the dialog, it opens the PDF in a new tab in Firefox and ALSO launches Adobe Acrobat and opens there. I have not seen this bizarre behavior before today. How do I fix it?

Hyperlinks keep opening in new windows, not in the same/existing window where they were selected. Issue is not unique to Google Search results and occurring across multiple websites. At wits end trying to figure this one out. I have deselected the "Open links in tabs instead of new windows", turned off all extensions, and uninstalled & reinstalled Firefox. Issue is still occurring. Attached is image of my tab selections showing all turned off.

I had like 10,000 open tabs (not exaggerating) and these tabs are gone after a blue screen error and a few Windows updates. I want to restore those tabs, but I can not because the "Restore the previous session" option is grayed out.

Are there ways to restore these open tabs?

If there isn't one, then I want to restore all the websites I have visited over the past few years and manually filter them.

How do I do it?

The Firefox library contains history but the oldest history it contains is 2024 December one. I guess the dedicated folder removed my old browsing history as it was filled up?

What I read is that places.sqlite file contains all the browsing history. Is this right? My places.sqlite file size is 80.0 MB (83,886,080 bytes). Is there a size limit on this file? I wonder if this file contains all my browsing history.

I have my places.sqlite file and DB Browser installed on my computer. But I don't know what to do next after opening places.sqlite file.

If there are better suited applications for my purpose than DB Browser, please recommend me one with a little instruction.

Long story short, how do I restore my open tabs or browsing history?

After updating to version 149.0, videos on hdrezka.tv do not start after clicking the play button.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open any video on hdrezka.tv.
2. Click the Play button.

Actual result: The player stays inactive or shows a loading icon.

Expected result: The video should start playing.

Note: I have tested this on version 148.2 and it works perfectly. Upgrading to 149.0 or 150.0 Beta breaks it. Reinstalling 148.2 fixes the issue.

bold textI don't know enough about settings/conflicts to resolve this. I had no problems for years, but this has been an issue for the past six months. AT&T has tried to help, but it just won't work. I have had this email address for almost 40 years, and I really don't want to give it up.

The old menu is more user friendly and everything shows up. Unlike the new menu where you have to search for stuff. Please incorporate an option to choose between menus.

I first installed Video Download Helper several weeks ago and it worked fine. However, since the update of 04 March, 2026, it no longer works with YouTube. (It does, however, still work with Instagram.) Having checked all of the settings (which I had/have not changed), I uninstalled it today and then re-installed it. This hasn't helped. With YouTube, the Downloader icon (pinned to toolbar) simply remains grey and does not show any videos when opened. I am using the latest, fully updated version of Firefox with Windows 10.

Can anyone help, please?

Hello, I am using Linux Mint on a desktop with the latest version of Firefox. Two weeks ago I could login to the Discover website with no problems. Suddenly I can not log in, but get an error message that something is wrong and I can't login. I can login using Chrome on this machine. My wife gets the same message when she tried to login to her account on my computer. After several discussions with Discover, all I get is "it is not our problem."

I am having no problems logging into other accounts with Firefox on this computer.

I have not explicitly changed anything on the browser or computer. I have done some updates which included Firefox. I can login on a different Linux computer using an older version of Firefox. Of course the updates were also to the computer and I will ask the same question to the Linux forum.

I really like Firefox and would hate to have to change to Chrome.

Password Manager will not save a URL larger than the first few words (base URL). But the site necessary to login contains more directions after the "xxx.com", and Password Manager truncates everything after the ".com" so it will not return to the proper site to login.
