The startup time/lag seems almost the same as it takes to restart after an update.

Anyone else experience this also? Thanks.

Since the last Firefox update, my computer's speed has become terrible, every attempt at opening/closing tabs takes absolutely ages. Eventually today I opened Task Manager to see the Firefox is hogging memory hugely, and even got a message suggesting I close Firefox because it was causing my computer to operate slowly. I eventually managed to close it, switched to MS Edge, and everything went back to normal. Anyone have any idea what is happening here?!

Firefox 141.0 slow and glitchy on dynamic sites, 140.x and other browsers not affected

Since updating to Firefox 141.0 (Win11), I've had issues with performance and on-screen behaviour of dynamic web pages/sites. The problems do not manifest on Chrome, or on a reinstalled version of Fx 140.0.4 on the same computer running at the same time (and with copy of original profile's data files, extensions etc.), they do manifest on a new Firefox 141.0 profile with only one tab open.

The problem happens on dynamic pages (e.g. gmail.com, boardgamearena.com/lobby) but doesn't seem to happen on static pages. Note that this doesn't depend on page elements moving around the visible window (e.g. panels opening and closing).

The manifesting problems:

  • Screen pointer rapidly switching between standard arrow pointer, mouse with index finger (clickable link) and serifed-style insertion bar, even when positioned on a part of the page that is not a link or a text box. Video (MP4, <1MB) showing behaviour at https://imgur.com/a/absjTh4.
  • Browser intermittently fails to respond to browser actions (mouse clicks, keyboard entry)
  • Small increase in browser CPU usage

Problem is worse if general CPU usage (from other applications) is already high - low CPU usage reduces but doesn't eliminate the problem. (Established by changing my BOINC settings and/or snoozing BOINC and observing; I have a gadget that monitors CPU and other resource usage.)

The fact that I can see the problem occurring on Fx 141 but have Fx 140.0.4 working fine at the same time on the same page, suggests that this is a Fx 141 issue. Regular malware scanner and an alternate found no issues.

Happy to do more diagnostic testing if it's helpful.

So I've got 6 tabs open in Firefox, all working properly. To help me focus on another task, I open a 2nd window in Firefox. It is, however, blank and unresponsive, doesn't show any extensions in the toolbar, but does show "Firefox View" which I don't normally have showing. I can only close the new window by using Task Manager to shut Firefox down completely or by right-clicking in the Taskbar on the dead window and selecting "close window". What's going on here? First image: working tabs, Second image: unresponsive new window. Regards, Ian Firefox 140.0b2 (64-bit) Windows 10 Pro

Hello, I'm having a problem. I can't seem to get rid of the 'Complete Setup' window. I have done everything it says I should. At first, I thought restarting my browser would solve the problem, but it didn't. I then restarted my computer, but again, there was no change. And now I don't know what else to do. I hope you can help me.

Respectfully, Justus P.

Directly underneath any open tabs I might have, there is a "pancakes" menu. It is three little, horizontal lines. Way up in the upper right of my open window. Next to it (immediate left), is a small 'puzzle piece', and then to the left of the 'puzzle piece' is a circle w/ the letter "M".

OK, back to the 'pancakes': Much of the time, when I click on the 'pancakes', I get a drop-down menu, containing a number of elements, for example, book marks, passwords, and a few other things. For some reason, without any warning (or known action by me), when I click the 'pancakes', nothing happens. It started a few days ago, and I've kept hoping that whatever is going on would stop. It does not work as of the morning of 01 August 2025. I have things in that drop-down menu that I need (or want), and cannot get to. I would like my 'pancakes' to work every time I click on it.

Thank you for any assistance you may render,

Mark H

(Oh, yeah, it is Win 11, which is a nightmare compared to Win 10. And, a six-month old computer; my daughter insisted that I get something newer, even while my old system worked great ... ).

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been experiencing a recurring issue with Firefox on my work computer. Each time I log in and open Firefox, the browser displays a white screen with my homepage attempting to load. The tab shows an hourglass icon, and opening additional tabs results in the same white screen with no further indicators of activity.

The only workaround I’ve found is to repeatedly open and close Firefox until I receive the following error message:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window."

After selecting the option to close the process and reopening Firefox, the browser functions normally—until the next time I lock or restart my computer.

Other browsers like Chrome and Edge work without issue during this time, indicating that the problem is isolated to Firefox and not related to my computer or network connection.

Steps Taken:

Repeatedly opened and closed Firefox until the error message appears Selected the option to close the running process Reopened Firefox successfully

Thank you for volunteering to help Firefox users.

For the past two days, Firefox has failed to load on the MacBook Pro laptop I purchased in June 2022.

When I open the laptop and click on the Firefox icon, a new, blank window tab opens. The tab says, simply: "New Tab." A black ball sways to the left of the words "New Tab," back and forth, left-right-left, endlessly. The window tab never loads a website, even when I type a website address into the address box or prompt box.

The failure first occurred about four days ago. After one day being unable to load Firefox, the next day I was able to, once again. Then, yeaterday and today, I have been unable to load websites and browse them using Firefox.

I am using macOS Sequoia 15.5. And I am using Firefox version 141 (aarch64).

Again, thank you for your assistance.

The operating system is Win11 Professional 24H2, the browser version is 141.0 (64 bit)

When I use Firefox to open any webpage and upload files, the browser will freeze. Specifically, the browser cannot perform any operations (including clicking on webpage links, switching tabs, scrolling pages, opening debugging interfaces with F12 ...). The larger the uploaded file, the longer it will freeze. However, for the same website on this computer, using Edge or other browsers, there will be no lag. But I don't think the above malfunctions are caused by the operating system version or browser version. Because this malfunction has been present for a long time, the computer's operating system and browser have been constantly updated, and no matter what version is updated, there will always be this malfunction
