I work at a middle school and manage student a few hundred student voicethread accounts. Voicethread is a presentation tool that gives students a chance to combine images, video and their narration. I have used Firefox to both access and create voicethreads in the past. Late in 2013 I began having problems accessing my voicethread account whenever I was using Firefox on my main desktop machine. Whenever I would get to the site, I would see the voicethread homepage for a moment, and then the window would turn into a field of white. At first I thought it was a voicethread problem, but now I realize it is a Firefox issue. I say this because I can access my account on other machines using older versions of Firefox, and I can access my voicethread account using Internet Explorer on the same machine that won't allow me into voicethread if I'm using Firefox. I have taken a screen capture video of the issue that you can access by clicking: http://screencast.com/t/BVcYX5G1p

Any help would be much appreciated

Hello,

Thanks for contacting Mozilla Support!

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Hopefully Andrew's suggestion will fix it.

If not, and you use any add-ons that cleans up web pages by removing ads or other annoyances, could you test with those disabled? One quick way to do that is to test the site in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

I'm not seeing the full length of the location bar in the screencast. I looks that there is something to the left of the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar.

Is that a shield icon or another (Lego like or exclamation mark) icon?

Firefox shows a shield icon to the left of the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location bar to indicate that mixed active content is blocked.
