My Mailtool use to work and then came Firefox 15.0. Now I have a greyed-out area where normally there would be an arrow to select an option to check for new emails. I'm able to set up the Mailtool with my email address, and type of server and password, but it will not indicate new mail. When checking the add-ons it will say that it is working. I have done everything the suggestions have told me to do, uninstall the Mailtool, clear the history and cache, reboot and re-install, but always the same problem. I opened a case file with conduit but nothing has happened and they have not communicated with me, even after I updated the problem by sending them a .jpg of what is indicated and I told them it does work in IE9; just not in Firefox 15.0. I would be happy going back to the version before 15.0 if I could only find someplace to download it.

I appreciate your help and the suggestion that I try SimpleMail. I did and it did notify me when new mail did arrive. However, I wasn't impressed in how it worked. For one thing, it didn't work for me at all. I couldn't reply to a message, as it would ask me for the email addresses, and since I was relying, I didn't think I should have to add them. I couldn't write a new message either as it wouldn't send it. It also brought all mail back into the SimpleMail folder, plus it was also downloaded into Thunderbird, so I had mail in both places, and I really prefer using Thunderbird, so I have removed SimpleMail. That brings me up to saying this. I greatly appreciate your help that you've tried to give me. However, I just wanted to keep using Thunderbird, with Mailman Toolbar, and was hoping it would be some sort of a easy fix or something was wrong with Version 15.0. Since that don't seem to be the case, I'm going to close this problem, and just live with it the way it works right now. I could go back to version 14.0.1 but you said there were security issues, so why do that? Thanks once again.

Hi rmholt, which Conduit "Community Toolbar" has the issue, can you provide a link to it? It may be that the specific Conduit partner is the one that needs to issue an update.

Also, which mail site is having the problem? There might be a good alternative solution for alerting you to new messages.

If it's the Road Runner Toolbar and you have a version older than the current version (digitally signed on September 6th), you might want to download again: http://www.rr.com/toolbar/download. Turns out not to be the right toolbar

I'm not sure what you mean. I'm using Mozilla Firefox, and I'm not sure what version I was using, but then Version 15.0 got loaded. The Mailman Toolbar was downloaded from http://mailman.ourtoolbar.com/. and when I was having problems with it and tried to contact their tech support, the email was sent to "support@conduit.com". An automated email came back and said my case number was #00806056, but since then, they haven't said a thing, even though I wrote them three time. Now, I loaded that same Mail Tool in IE9 and it works, so using my logic, if it worked before Firefox 15.0 and it still works in IE9, something is either wrong with version 15.0 or something in the Mail tool will not let it work with the new version. Since I couldn't get a response from conduit, I thought I's see if anyone else was having problems with it and Firefox 15.0. I've included an image of what I get after down loading and installing. What it is supposed to look like is shown below the "Thank you for installing........." and what I get is shown above. If I click the envelope, I can set up my email account, but that don't do any good, as it is still greyed out after the envelope. Thus, I never get notified that new email has arrived using Firefox. Now I could use IE9 and Thuinderbird and everything would be fine, except I don't want to. I would like to use Firefox. My mail server is Fairpoint, which bought out Verizon in the Northeast, but that shouldn't have any thing to do with it, as explained above.

Hi rmholt, I tested the Mainman toolbar with a POP3 account and it did retrieve a list of recent email subject lines. I didn't actually look at the bar to see whether it said anything, I just clicked the envelopes button and it refreshed the list. Edit: Actually, I might have click the circular refresh icon in the dialog to refresh the list.

Were you accessing POP3 account or a webmail account?

However, this add-on is incapable of using SSL access, meaning it sends my password in clear text. This is unacceptable to me so I uninstalled the toolbar and I have to change my password now.

I also use a POP3 account, but that doesn't make a difference, since according to the image I enclosed above, I can't get it to work. What you didn't say in the above test is what version of Firefox you were using? Right now, I have Firefox 15.0.1 and Mailman Version 10.13.1.89. The only two things I haven't tried yet is uninstalling Firefox and starting all over, or just trying to go back to an older version of Firefox, which still means uninstalling this version.

I tested in Firefox 15.0.1 with MailMan toolbar version 10.13.1.89, same as yours. To avoid conflicts with existing add-ons or settings, I tested in a new Firefox profile.

You might try clearing your existing toolbar settings. I'm not sure how to do that completely but you could try the following:

(1) Reset preferences in about:config

(i) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(ii) The Conduit Toolbar preferences may appear right at the top starting with CT. Right-click each one and choose Reset.

(2) Clear any saved password for your email account

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Security > "Saved Passwords"

Then try to re-setup your email.

Yesterday, I completely uninstalled Firefox 15.0.1, cleaned the registry, re-installed Firefox 15.0.1 and then the mail tool. Still have the same problem. Nothing else was changed on this computer, so i feel if it worked before version 15.0, it should still work now, as no virus programs or other programs should be affecting it, if they didn't affect it before. Any other suggestions?

When you did the uninstall/reinstall, did you flush all your bookmarks and other personal data? If you preserved them, then try the Reset feature, which will selectively preserve/discard settings. This article has the steps: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.

I just tried what you suggested. What I did before was to uninstall Firefox and I removed the Mozilla folder from the AppData/Roaming area, and got rid of all passwords, but I did import the old bookmarks back in. However, this time I reset Firefox which got rid of everything and before I did anything with bookmarks, I installed the add-in Mailman Toolbar. It is still the same - BROKE. The only question I have now is, do you know what the version number of Firefox was before 15.0? I'd like to go back to it and if it works again. I just won't update and stay with it. The only other thing I can do is stay with 15.0.1, without the Mailman Toolbar.

The previous version was 14.0.1. It does have some publicly disclosed security vulnerabilities, so it is not recommended, but it is available along with all past releases of Firefox if you find that is the best balance of security and functionality.

Perhaps you could find an alternate notifier for Firefox 15? I installed the SimpleMail add-on, which can load your email in a tab to read and reply. It does notification and supports SSL access to POP mail. However, I mistakenly pointed it to a mailbox with over 2000 items so I'm still waiting to play with it... if you never delete messages off the server, this might not be the best choice!
