Firefox for Android re-opens tabs

I'm not sure if this behavior is intended or not.. but it seems unusual and like some sort of glitch.

Firefox re-opens tabs after the browser is closed. Say I hypothetically open the app to make a Google search, open a few tabs from the results, do some research, then close the most recent 4 tabs and then immediately close the entire app.

Upon my next opening of the app, I'm served the New Tab screen. Tapping the square icon that brings up my list of currently open tabs, reveals that those 4 tabs from my previous session have returned. This has persisted through the last few updates, and I've just been living with it for a month or two. If I close a bunch of tabs at once and then keep browsing, sometimes I'm able to keep some of them dead, but some will come back I think. It's inconsistent and strange.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you Paul! I didn't realize it was already known. I tried as much Google searching as possible (at the time) to find any other reports of this bug.. wasn't able to find any.

It's not the worst thing ever, but the bug seems to snowball itself worse and worse, and it's frustrating to have endless useless tabs all the time. Glad they're looking into it.
