Third Party Cookies
OK, I just read pages and pages of people frustrated with gaining control over Third Party cookies. We are not seeing the control in our Firefox settings any more. This has become quite important these days since websites like DAA will illustrate the importance of having control over our Third Party cookies. Instead, Firefox has obfuscated the issue behind a shroud of competing procedures and discussion on a blog that is not helping. Meanwhile, we can't even find Third Party Cookies on our standard menu anymore. People NEED to control Third Party Cookies easily and quickly and with the least amount of time spent as possible because we are busy. Thank you in advance for respecting that, Firefox. It is your responsibility, not ours, to make your settings menu serviceable. I do not want to be led into nightmarish web trails looking for something that is normally a part of the software that we use. Firefox needs to put Third Party Cookies back on the main menu of the browser settings and stop wasting our time. Thank you.

Honestly, I can't understand you. Firefox gives you the best control over TP cookies. TP tracking cookies are disabled by default, so you don't even search that option in settings. Do you want to enable it?

There’s more to this than at first blush. There’s a global opt out of third party cookies managed by DAA Digital Advertising Alliance. When I used the tool, it found about 120 of these advertising bots following me around on the web by names I never saw or imagined. Everyone probably has hundreds of these that gather your “interests” and then use that information to drop ads around the edges of your searches and websites. They deposit cookies in our browsers and the tool requires that third party cookies be open in order for the tool to deposit a stop order in the cookie. Frankly, I do not know how I could have so many of these because I have had Third Party cookies blocked for a long time back to when we did have the function in our browser settings. So now, basically, I cannot allow the Third Party Cookies in order for the stop orders to be deposited. Frankly, as well, I do not know how much of this is advertising bunk because DAA is a service precisely for the furtherance of interest advertising. They call it “Your Ad Choices” and they are well embedded in university marketing education and the advertising industry. Ultimately, it looks like we are stuck with the hundreds of cookies already embedded. The whole thing becomes more absurd when you consider that DAA seem to be suggesting that we leave third party cookies open all the time, run the tool periodically to find newly embedded cookies and disable those. The whole thing strikes me as insane since the solution seems very simple to me. Require permission from the person before putting the little advertising “air tag” on them in the first place. Then we are not so much like mice on a wheel in their lab. These are my thoughts on the topic.
