This morning I woke up to the new "Fenix" update (v79) of the Firefox Android app. Lots of UI/UX changes, missing addons, too many steps for basic functionality and an overall "stripped" feeling/experience.

Why was this big update not announced well ahead of time, like with Firefox Quantum? It feels like a completely different browser and a jarring experience to get this pushed into the stable channel without prior notification.

Don't get me wrong; I've been using Firefox for at least the past 10 years and it's always been my favorite browser experience on both desktop and mobile. This update feels like it's packing too many changes at once. I'll hold off the update until it's proven stable, extensible and featureful.

For people who didn't yet receive the update: it might be a good idea to read up on the upcoming changes and if you want to move to Fenix.

For people who already had the update: what are your thoughts on the new Fenix experience?

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.

You can also file a bug report or feature request for Firefox and other Mozilla products. See File a bug report or feature request for Mozilla products for details.
