Experiencing crashes almost everyday lately, sometimes twice a day. This is a new computer so it's not the computer, had the same problems with the last one, but now it is getting ridiculous, may need to switch to a different browser. Please advise/help! Thank you

Here is the report for October, but please note that sometimes when it crashes, the computer freezes and I have to restart so there is no report for those crashes. This happens almost daily now, very disturbing. Thank you for your assistance.

Okay, I am not "techie" but I checked everything and they are all up to date. I am wondering if slow internet speeds would somehow affect browser efficiency. I sometimes have four windows open and that's when I experience the freezing/crashes/slowness. Thank you for your assistance.

hi Cheryle730, some of the crashes look related to video playback - you could try the following to address those:

enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named media.windows-media-foundation.allow-d3d11-dxva. double-click it and change its value to false.

Hi Philipp,

Okay, I did try this and will see how it goes for a few days. I occasionally play youtube videos, but I also watch ustream cameras, too, and wondered if that was a problem. Could these problems be caused by slow internet service? Thank you !

Okay, an hour after trying your recommendation, had another crash. Have changed the setting back to true and moved to a different browser. Really tired of dealing with the constant freezes/crashes. I have asked if it's possible that my slow internet connection could be causing this problem but have not yet received a reply. Again, thank you for you help.

A slow connection would slow down things like loading web pages. If you want to watch a clip, it would be best to download it and watch it later.

Please post any new crash reports.

most likely one of your many addons is adversely interfering in those last two reports. please try to refresh firefox and see if this can address the issue (afterwards set "media.windows-media-foundation.allow-d3d11-dxva" to "false" again).

Okay, have done as you recommended, will see how it goes today. When I reset my computer, I eliminated most of the extensions that I had used previously. Hopefully all of this will help, but I am still concerned that my slow internet is contributing to the problem. This computer is less than a year old and has 16 GB of RAM, but runs very slowly on this internet, which unfortunately I can do nothing about as we live in area with limited options.

A number of programs 'Phone Home' now and then to get updates and such. This includes Firefox and its add-ons.

There are also programs that use the web now and then to gather information. If you have these, disable them from doing so. Do manual updates only.

I have been using another browser (Chrome) for two days, no freezes/crashes, things are working much better so it seems that the problem is with Firefox. As for updates on programs, with the exception of updates on Windows 10, all updates are set so that I have to approve them. I appreciate all the help, just not sure that I will continue using Firefox as there are too many issues and it doesn't make any sense if it's not working correctly for me.
