I recently was upgraded to Quantum (version 57.0.4). My computer is running Win 10 (the Fall Creator's Edition, IIRC). Prior to Quantum I had no problem printing a web page. Now what happens is that my print's (HP Laser Jet) light flashes for a couple of minutes, and then ejects a blank sheet of paper. I following the instructions for resetting Firefox's print settings, but that did not help. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

David

Hi David. Just got your Private message. Have been away.

Could you please check if there are any Firmware updates for your HP LaserJet P2055dn as well please check HP's support forum for issues with Firefox 58+ I will suggest the same for the Brother ink jet as well get to the device manager in Windows and click to see if there are new drivers available from MS.

As to doing a refresh you have done the closest thing to it by doing the uninstall and reinstall already.

As I mentioned then in that post your Profile. PROFILES

Do you see the printer as one of the options in Print Option in FF? And did you install the software/driver for this printer?

Hi -- Yes, I see my printer in the Firefox printer driver interface.

Best,

David

There are things can do but first please google your make and model with printing issues Firefox 57 or Quantum as key words.

I noticed yesterday when did this that other people had issues and it was the printer and not Firefox issue. As just skimmed it there maybe some solutions provided already or from HP. Please check that out 1st as only had a few here and not seeming to help and they just mysteriously start to work again.

Hi Pkshadow,

I did the Google search you suggested. The only potentially useful link is the following: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1185612. However, I am reluctant to go the Refresh route, as I would be afraid of losing the various customizations I have made in Firefox. I did try the suggestion of deleting prefs.js, which neither helped nor hurt (well, actually, it speeded up, considerably, the printing of the blank page).

I suppose if I can't find another solution, I will try Refresh, but to me that is a last resort.

Thanks,

David

What is your exact HP model? You can always reinstall the drivers over the old one as well. I don't think removing the driver and reinstall will hurt FF or any other apps that use it.

Try uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.4 with a Full Version Installer

After this is Profile Issue.

Hi Pkshadow,

Sadly, the approach you indicated did not work. When I try to print I receive the error message 'An error occurred while printing' and all I receive from my printer is a blank sheet.

Also, I now have a new problem after removing and re-installing Firefox. Specifically, when I click on a link in an email (I use Outlook 2013) and Firefox is the default web browser, I receive the error message 'Your organization's policies are preventing us from completing this action for you.'

Update -- I searched around on the Internet for solutions to the 'Your organization's policies ...' problem, and managed to fix that problem. I can only hope it stays fixed, as there are some indications that the problem can recur.

Bump -- I followed the steps outlined in Pkshadow's post of 11 January, but the problem was not resolved. I am still unable to print out of Firefox.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hallelujah -- I installed Firefox ESR and now I can print from FF. Unfortunately ESR is slower than molasses, but at least I can once again print!!!

Hi -- In the end I was able to solve the problem, though I am sad to say that at this point I don't remember all the things I did or in what order. However, I did re-install / install the latest drivers for my HP Laser Jet and Brother printer. Also I am now running Firefox 58.0.2, 64-bit version. But all is well that ends well.

Regards,

David
