For the past few days Firefox has been freezing after I open it without even reaching the homepage - grateful for any light you can shed on this!
I don't seem to be able to put a screenshot in this message but the screen is basically mostly black. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Firefox but to no avail. It suddenly started doing this last week. Is there something I can do to put it right? I am running it from a 64bit Dell laptop if that's any help?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
Regards, Paul

Doesn't is work in normal mode with hardware acceleration disabled?
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

Also once I start it up if I try to close the window I get a black box saying "Confirm close" with no icons so I have to close it via task manager (this is all via Windows 2010)
Can you start Firefox properly in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift/Options key?
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
Thank you! :-) - yes that seemed to work, although I already had the "Use hardware acceleration when available" option toggled. I think it may have been related to Astromenda trouble which I have now (hopefully) completely removed. but will I always need to open in safe mode from now on?
