Firefox 120 is freezing my Android 11 phone when I start typing on the search bar (weirdly it start to happens when a space is inserted). It freezes so hard that pretty much it takes 30-min to 1 hour for the phone to restart or the battery to drain.

Reverting to 119.1.1 solves the problem immediately.

My guess would be that maybe the search bar or the suggestion related code introduced something weird, as I do have a lot of bookmarks. Nevertheless, it's definitely a new issue (been using Firefox mobile since first day around 2010) and introduced in 120.0.

Since the phone is hard freezing, I can't even connect in ADB and try to see any message hinting at what's wrong. If there's a crash trace maybe some info could be dug there.

As with other recent posters on this support forum, I am also experiencing the bug on Firefox for Android 114.2.0 where all pages fail to load, only a blank screen is shown, along with the padlock icon having a red slash.

This started 2 days ago when I updated to Firefox 114.2.0 and also updated to Android 13 patch level June 1, 2023.

I will attach screenshots of the blank page, the Firefox about page, the Play Store app info, and the Settings app info.

To me, from reading through these pages and other places online, it appears that the problem is triggered by an update to a recent version of Firefox, an update to a recent version of Android, or a combination of both. It also appears that updating the app will fix the issue (updating at all, not updating to a specific version), or reinstalling the app. Some have said they had luck with clearing the cache and restarting their phone. Some have also said that despite these fixes working temporarily, the issue reoccurred for them.

I figure that I will just be able to wait for the next version of Firefox to be released, and it will fix itself, since I do not want to lose my browser data. I am just making this post because I was wondering if this is a known issue to the devs, or if they read the support forum or the Play Store reviews. I tried looking through the issue tracker at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/describecomponents.cgi?product=Fenix but I could not find any relevant entries.

Thanks for any response! Not trying to bug anyone or be negative, Firefox is amazing and I am super appreciative for all of the devs, and the community. I thought maybe collecting all the info in one place might be helpful for someone.

HOW DO WE RESTORE JAVASCRIPT. I guess 🤣 need to buy a new phone thanks to FIREFOX. None of the crap in this forum or online works. At first my problem was I can't open links because I need to enable JavaScript. I cannot use the suggested fix i.e. about:config. Doesn't work.

Just a few minutes ago I was able to post a DISAPPEARING query and then somehow I'm not in Firefox and when I try to log in WHICH I DID just minutes before I'm told my password doesn't work or I need to use primary acct which I try and still get told it's WRONG. So now I think I'm here by signing in with Gmail but the problems keep multiplying until I can't remember all the steps I took when something worked and a second later it was bad page or some warning or this that and the other. WHY THE "&?$ isn't there a fix I can complete before I die of old age? HOW DO I ENABLE JAVASCRIPT and why did it quit working?

Each time I reconnect =) CRASH (pop up says "hum firefox as crashed. do you want to reopen? I click ok = it recrashes again and again) I'm getting to you as I've tried ALL solving problem issues I could find but none seems to work. Basically I have: - Desinstalled and reinstalled the App (from store or link) 10 times already. - “Repaired” my Firefox account on PC in case it had someting to do with it. - Posted the issue on Apple IOS support which answered that if it runs ok on Mac PC then pbm come from Mozilla not IOS. - Posted the issue on French Mozilla support 5 days ago and get no answer NOTHING works and I can not get a crash report as FIrefox is not accessible once it has crashed right? I'm having a problem with playing videos on websites. When I click the expand to full screen button about half the time the full screen video comes up for half a second and then the window shrinks down to a small square on the bottom right-hand corner of my screen. Sort of like when the youtube app minimizes a video. This window is unclickable and also everything at or below it in android is unclickable while it's there. If I click the window button on android and swipe the firefox app up to close it and restart it, Firefox doesn't even close and I can still hear sound from the video. I have to select on the Firefox app again which will restore the full window and then click the full screen button one more time and it will work. This issue is happening on every website I play video on on the Firefox app and it is extremely irritating. I'm about ready to switch to another app if this can't be solved, but Firefox is the only browser that allows ublock origin so I don't want to do that. Can anyone help?

Video playback initially works, until suddenly it doesn't; no new videos will work, and videos that previously played in the same browsing session will stop working. Easy to reproduce on Reddit by browsing any video-heavy subreddit. Leaving a broken video in a tab seems to infect the rest of the browser across websites; if a broken video from site A is open in another tab, videos on site B won't play.

Sometimes quitting and restarting Firefox is enough to temporarily get video playback working again; sometimes I have to manually clear the browser cache; at least once I've had to reboot my phone.

I'm trying to get Yomichan by FooSoft to install on Nightly for Android (v117.0a1) to no success. Here's what I've tried:

  1. 1. Add Yomichan to a custom add-on collection.
  2. 2. Go to the add-on manager and tap on install.
  3. 3. A little toast that says "Failed to install Yomichan" comes up instantly (see screenshot attached). Nothing is even downloaded.

Notes and information:

  • a. The development of Yomichan has ceased and the version on AMO is behind by 3 years (June 4, 2020).
  • b. The latest version of Yomichan (October 23, 2022) is only available as an XPI file on the add-on developer's GitHub page. Unfortunately, it is not possible to install add-ons from XPI files on Nightly for Android, so I have no idea if this version would work on Nightly for Android.
  • c. Another user (Occupied Octopus) uploaded a rebranded version of Yomichan's latest release in 'note b' called "KiYomi" to AMO. Unfortunately, installation fails on Nightly for Android too, with the same results as in the screenshot after attempting to install it.
  • d. Installation of other add-ons (e.g. uBlock Origin, SingleFile) succeeds.

From version 110 and up, there are websites where the autofill no longer works. The option to select your saved users & PWs comes up but upon selecting one, nothing gets filled. On other websites the autofill works as intended. Going to the real debrid website is the one I can accurately reproduce the issues on. With version 109 and below, the autofill works. Is there a proper work around besides having to go into the settings, finding out the password and inputting it manually?

When I try to go to google on Firefox for android, the website doesn't load and instead all I get is a white, blank page. When I search using google in the address bar, the results show up. But then if I click the google icon to go to the google homepage, I get the blank white page again. What is going on? Also the desktop version of the site works, but the mobile version does not. It just stopped working this morning and nothing on my device had changed. I tried uninstalling firefox multiple times and still every time I redownload firefox, I get the same issue. I've been a longtime user of firefox user and the first time I have had a major issue like this.
