Problem with modifying an existing google search.
When I try to modify an existing google search by adding or deleting words it does not produce new search results but simply reloads to the original search. I have tried checking and unchecking "accept cookies from sites" but with no success. Neither do the new search results appear if I click "go back one page". Windows 7. Firefox 4.0.1 A solution to this problem would be very gratefully received. Thanks.

Try running Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

Click the Firefox button, go to Options | Options | Advanced and in the Network tab, Offline Storage menu, click the Clear Now button.
Right click the Back / Forward buttons to get a list of sites visited.
You can also install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/
Thanks Xircal. Followed your suggestion. Not quite working yet. It will only modify the search if it coincides with one of google's suggested searches on the drop-down menu. At one point it looked like it was going to work but for some reason or other didn't and I ended up back at the original search results with no sign of my modified search. I'll keep trying. Might be some programme or plug-in which is causing the glitch and which needs uninstalling. Thanks again.

Yes it functions properly in the safe mode configuration so I'll consider this problem solved. I'll check my add-ons as you suggested. Thanks Xircal.
You're welcome.
