Every couple of days Firefox tells me I do not have protection. I use AVG as my antivirus. I am sick of it.

Unfortunately, deceptive websites often try to get users to download or subscribe to security software.

Where does this message appear? For example:

  • Inside a web page
  • As a separate popup window
  • As a notification in the corner of the desktop. Check whether nefarious sites have notification permission and remove it. See: Web Push notifications in Firefox.
  • As a full screen message (try pressing Esc, or Ctrl+W to close the tab)
