History and bookmarks are missing
Near the top of the Firefox page is displayed:
"The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can caused this problem".
How do I resolve this problem?

Following the article, I deleted all of the "favicons" and "places" files then restarted my PC and Firefox. Firefox should then re-create new (and empty) bookmark and history database files.
But, when I then visit numerous websites and click on the star (to bookmark the pages), History and Bookmarks are still empty.
And the "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can caused this problem" message is still being displayed.
