I just moved a bunch of messages from my inbox to a new (sub)folder. When I open that folder, there are some messages combined into a thread. How can I view them as individual messages (ideally I want to 'unthread' them). I see that when I click on >, I can see all messages - but I want to get rid of the > and see the messages like I did before moving them.

You can do what you want in display/sort options. See attached screen. Sorry, my TB is in French...
